Whether your a “Newbie” or experienced at affiliate marketing, article marketing can be a daunting task. Either you just don’t know where to start or you’re tired of the process. I’ve put together some quick article marketing tips to get you over that hump and on your way to making some money!

Article Marketing Tips #1-What Am I Using This Article For?

Know what you’re trying to do with the article and what I mean by that is, are you using it for filler? For Back Links? Is it going to be an “onsite article” or are you going to use it “offsite” for a related blog or article distributors like Ezine.com or SEOLinkvine?

Know your reasons for writing the article & this will dictate the quality of the content and the overall length (word count) of the article. ALWAYS use the best quality article on your main site ! This is the page or post you are definitely trying to rank for in Google and make sales! This leads into Tip #2…

Article Marketing Tips #2-KeyWords and On Page SEO

There is a great debate regarding keywords and their density within an article… What’s too much “keyword stuffing” or how much is too little? This is what I’ve learned and it serves me well:

Settle on 1 main keyword that you are trying to rank for
Put the keyword in the 1st 50 words of the article and in bold
Rule of thumb is 2-5% keyword density in the body of the article
Use the keyword in the “H1″ tag at least one time in the article
Use the keyword or keyword phrase within the last 50 words of the article and italicize it

These tips applies mainly to “onsite” articles as you’re not able to manipulate “H1 Tags” in the article distributors like Ezine.com, etc.

Article Marketing Tips #3-Write the Article Myself or Outsource?

Who writes the article? This is probably the most often asked question and I probably should have posted this at the top, but here we are now, so let’s tackle this question!

When you’re just starting out money is usually tight and you will end up writing the article yourself, so here are a few key things to keep in mind:

Write it from the heart… Don’t be too technical, you’re having a conversation with your reader
When writing and article you’re trying to rank for make it a 500-700 word article. Google likes content, but you don’t want to bore your reader either
Bullet Points, Pictures and Video keep the reader engaged… Most people tend to skim, so make it easy for them to find the info they’re looking with multi-media
Make sure your grammar and spelling are correct! If this isn’t your thing, have some proof-read it for you and make the necessary corrections.
THE GOLDEN RULE- All onsite content must be “Unique!” No spun articles or copied articles should be on your site if you are trying to rank for that keyword!

Follow these simple guidelines and you’ll do fine, believe me… When you start outsourcing your article writing and you will, keep in mind these few things:

Is it their Native Tongue? Since I am writing in English, I am assuming your article will be in English too. Make sure the person you hire has a good command of the language, ie., grammar, spelling, etc
Price- Cheaper isn’t always better, you do get what you pay for, so… Ask about bulk discounts, How much for 5 articles, how much for 10 etc. Per Article can cost between $5-$15…
Get a sample of their writing of have them write a quick 200 word snippet using your keyword and judge them from there
Use a reputable outsourcing site like Elance.com or The Article Mill.com

3 More Bonus Article Marketing Tips:

Make sure the keyword is in the Title of the Page/Post
Make sure the keyword is in the Description
Make sure the keyword is in the “keywords section” of your page/post

I know this all sounds like something you should already know, but I see this mistake all the time! If you’re still making this mistake, don’t be embarrassed, just go back and fix it!
