Keyword Domains-Do They Really Help?

KeyWordDomains

KeyWordDomainsKeyWord Domains

There is much debate on how and when to use Keyword Domains, but I can tell you that from personal experience that they do work! Having said that, does every domain name I get from now on need to be a keyword domain?????

Keyword Domains-When To Use Them

Keyword domains are great for the “niche” marketer…  If you’re not familiar with niche marketing, it is basically grabbing a small part of hopefully a much sought after market. Example:Internet Marketing, that’s a pretty large market, but I want to focus on keyword domains, which is a sub-niche of internet marketing and that’s all I want to focus on, promote products as an affliate and maybe some of my own.  “Keyword Domains” is the “Niche” and going after “www.DomainKeywords.com” would be a great way to get ranked quickly in the SERPs.

I this all making sense?  I really do want you to understand because I don’t want you to think keyword domains are the only way to go although they are a powerful tool.

Why Do Keyword Domains Carry Such Weight?

It’s a very simple SEO concept employed by most internet marketers although I do see some missing the boat still….

When doing your basic SEO your keyword should be in the title, description and keyword meta tags.  This is the Golden Rule & if you haven’t learned, please do so!!

When google crawls a website, it searches for those things in all 3 of those areas and if you match up you’ll eventually get to the 1st page of Google™ and hopefully position 1.  Well when a site is new, Google™ usually doesn’t give it much weight, it likes to see some good content for the end user, etc.

One of the best ways if not the best way for a new site to overcome this and move up quickly in Google™ and staying there is using the “keyword domain” concept. The why’s, when’s,where’s and how’s of why Google™ likes this, I don’t know, but what I do know is that it works!

My Keyword Domain Is Already Taken!-Hyphenated Keyword Domains

So you’re set on your niche and you know what you want your domain name to be…  You go to buy it and it’s already taken, so what now?!

Keep in mind I am assuming that the .Net and.Org versions are already taken and you’re really up against that wall.  You’re next option is the Hyphenated Keyword Domain.

Hyphenated Keyword Domains are good and bad….  In regards to the Google™  searches, in my opinion, they work just as well.  Google™  does view it as the keyword phrase the end user typed in and will give you credit for it by showing you in the SERPs.

The bad part of this is, the end user….  For some people: “www.Hyphenated-Keyword-Domains.com” doesn’t look quite as good or authoritative as “www.HyphenatedKeywordDomains.com”  Now, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use them, but it may sway some of the end users away from you. Having said that, if I know I’m going into a good “niche” I’ll take my chances because more “crap” exists out there than does good quality and informative content.

keyword domains name.Com, .Net or .Org & Who’s This .Info Guy?

Ok, the keyword domain exists but someone already has the”.Com” extension, can I use .Net or .Org and what about this .Info guy?

In my opinion and experience you can use any of them in the eyes of Google™.  Even that “.Info” guy, I personally have a site with a “Info.” extension that does rank in Google™.

The only hang up here and again it’s my opinion, but the “other extensions” the Non-.Com extensions only seem to really affect the end user, in this case better known as your Customer.  Some people maybe turned off by the extension, but if you optimized your Title,Description & Keywords right you’ll outshine the .Com guy anyway and they’ll click on your link!

I hope this sheds a bit of light on this debate about Keyword Domains.  I have left you some good places to buy domains and get your hosting setup.

.Edu & .Gov BackLinks-How To Get Them

.edu back links-.gov back links

.edu back links-.gov back links .Edu Back Links and .Gov Back Links-A Quick Tip

.Edu back links and .Gov back links have long been sought after for their high quality and “link juice” potential. High quality, high PR back links are the name of the game when trying to get both PR and high rankings in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) in Google™.

I will show a one very easy trick on how to find and go after these high PR back links, but 1st a quick idea of what they are…

What Are .Edu & .Gov Back Links

Very basically put, most Universities, Colleges, Government Agencies, etc have a website of some sort and their end tag will be .Edu or .Gov.  They are a sponsored Top Level Domain (TLD) to be used by U.S. Institutions of higher learning & government.  Having said that, most have a forum or blog on them as well where comments can be left.

Google™ holds these sites in high esteem usually giving them high PR making . edu back links and .gov back links a prime target for a one-way link back to your post/page.  They can be a bit tricky to find and hard to get a link from even when you do find them, but it’s usually worth the effort.

.edu back Links

How Do I Find .Edu & .Gov Back Links

You find .edu back links & .gov back links in exactly the same way…  Now before I go into this you want to download SEO Quake, it’s free SEO Tool and a must for every Internet Marketer…

Remember PR is important, we are going after high ranking .edu back links and .gov back links and SEO Quake will show the PR of each site.  I go into natural linking patterns in other posts, that is important, but we’re going for the gold today!!

In your browser after you have downloaded SEO Quake, type the following:

site:.edu “post a comment” -”you must be logged in” -”comments closed” “keyword

The only thing you have to do is replace “keyword” with the actual keyword you are trying to rank for, for example:

In this post I am talking about .edu back links and ,gov back links, if I were searching for this keyword terms the string would look like this:

site:.edu “post a comment” -”you must be logged in” -”comments closed” “edu back links

site:.gov “post a comment” -”you must be logged in” -”comments closed” “gov back links

Notice how I switched out the keyword phrase I am searching for, it is that easy!  Now, you will have to work at this, like everything else in SEO there is no “push button software” that does all of this for you, but this will get you well on your way!

There are paid services for getting both .edu back links and .gov back links, but I have never personally used them, so I can’t give any recommendation.

What Is An RSS Feed?

What is a Rss Feed

What is a Rss FeedWhat is an RSS Feed?

So, what is an RSS feed anyway….  RSS stands for (Rich Site Summary), it was designed to deliver the changing web content to the end subscriber.  In normal terms, you want to know when ReverseFound.com adds or changes content you will be notified when subscribe to my RSS Feed.

So, Why the RSS Feed?

Simple bookmarking tools just aren’t enough if you want to keep track of your favorite site or blog.  You have to manually check your book marked sites and more often then not they are not regularly updated.  It’s time consuming and often unfruitful….

With an RSS Subscription you no longer have to do this…  Just think of it as a subscription to your favorite magazine or newspaper and you’re sent a copy directly to your computer without lifting a finger.

You’re Going To Need An RSS Feed Reader

There are quite a few RSS Feed Readers available and I have listed a few below:

  • Google Reader
  • Feed Locks
  • Omea Reader
  • RSS Bandit

They work something like email when a new RSS Feed is received… They all have a bit different set up, but when a blog or website is updated a pop up will come up alerting you of a change or new post.

RSS Feeds For Internet Marketers

RSS Feeds can be a great way for Internet Marketers in a couple of different ways:

  • RSS Feeds are a great way to get indexed in Google™ quicker and getting back links
  • They are a great way to get content to your readers quickly and effortlessly

Getting the RSS Feeds out are the next step and I’ve listed a couple of Free RSS Submitters below:

  • Ping-O-Matic.com
  • Bulk Ping.com
  • FeedAgg.com

There are some really good paid RSS Feed submitters as well and  can be a great tool for any internet marketer I personally use TrafficMania RSS Bot because it allows me to submit one large feed with multiple descriptions and keywords.

Creating An RSS Feed

Some Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo do not have an RSS Feed available for you to grab and send out, so you have to create one.  A great free tool for that is Feedage.com…  Simply take the URL of the page/post that you want to convert into an RSS Feed and plug into their program.

You want to check the validity of the RSS Feed before you send it out across the net.  You’ve done all the work, so you may as well check to see if the feed is valid.  There is a neat free tool at W3 Feed Validator, just plug in your newly formed RSS Feed and it will validate it in seconds.

I hope I answered your question, what is an RSS Feed…  Please feel free to search my site for more great internet marketing tips and sign up form my free newsletter giving you the latest, IM updates.

Do Follow and No Follow Links-What’s The Difference

BioBox1

do follow and no follow links

Do Follow and No Follow Links

Do Follow and No Follow Links are the lifeline of any affiliate marketer, they are a “vote of confidence” from one site to your site and Google™ rewards you accordingly.

What is a Link Anyway?

Very simply put, a “link” or “hyperlink” is a way to connect to somewhere else on your website or to another site altogether.   For example Ezine Links, click on the highlighted or “hyper-linked” term Ezine Links & you will be immediately be taken to that page.

Do Follow Liink

Do Follow Links

Do Follow Links are the stuff dreams are made of!  OK, not really,  but they are the reason why your Page/Post gets ranked in Google™.  Page rank and high positioning in Gooogle’s SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) results in traffic which results in MONEY! Learn It, Live It, Love It!

When you receive a Do Follow link from another site The Big “G” likes this, it tells them that your site is seen as an authority site by another site and you must be doing something right! I want Do Follow links, so…..  How do I get them?!?!

do follow and no follow links

There are quite a few ways of getting Do Follow links to your site, I won’t go into all of the here, but I will cover a few of the best:

Article Marketing- Widely used and viewed as one of the best “White Hat” ways of getting Do Follow links, the idea is simple.  Write or have written a 500-700 word article related to the page/post on your site with a link back in the bio section.  For an example go to Ezine Links to see how to do this.

Example

Blog Comments- Another favorite of most affiliate marketers, you find blogs related to the topic on your site and make a comment in the “Comments” section of their blog.  There are a couple of ways to do this and I cover this more in my blog commenting post.  IMPORTANT in order to get “link juice” this must be a “Do Follow” blog, but they are a good way of getting do follow and no follow links just the same.

Forum Profiles & Signatures- Viewed as “Grey Hat” tactics, forum profiles & signatures are a quick and cheap way to get a link back to your page/post.  Because forums are so big it can be hard for Google™ to find it and give you credit for the link.  For a better explanation go to my post on getting your links indexed in Google™ quickly.

Nno folow linko Follow Links

If you understand “do follow” links then the opposite is true for “no follow” links.  Well, it’s true for the most part…  A no follow link basically tells Google™ not to give credit or “link juice” to the site receiving the link.

The hyperlink is active, the end user can click of the link and end up on your site, but you will not receive the benefit. That’s not to say you will penalized, you just don’t get the full benefit.

You can also make outbound links on your pages/posts “no follow” so you don’t leak “link juice” to site you are linking to.

Having said all of that, “No Follow” links are not all that bad….  Google™ likes to see a natural linking pattern.  In a natural linking pattern not all of your links are going to be the same.  This means that some links will be do follow, some will be no follow, some will be from articles directories and some will be from blog comments, forum profiles, inline blog links, press releases, etc.

Do Follow and No Follow Links In Conclusion

Very simply do follow and no follow links are the lifeblood of any affiliate marketer.  Do follow links pass much needed “link juice” to your page/post increasing PageRank and SERP which in turn increases traffic and profits!

No follow links are not as bad and some affiliate marketers let on.  “Link Juice” is not passed on to your page/post, but it creates a natural linking pattern which is a very important back linking component in the eyes of Google™.  I hope my post on do follow and no follow links has helped, please browse my site for more great affiliate marketing information.

Do I Have Back Links?-Back Links Checker

back links checker

back links checkerBack Links Checker

A back links checker can come in quite a few different forms and most are free!  I know, that’s good news considering you’ve already spent a weeks pay for someone to do your back linking  for you.

For me there are 2 main reasons for checking back links:

1. Spying on the Competition: Knowing how many back links and the quality of the back links they have can give you a leg up on out ranking them.  Getting to the 1st page of Google™ and out ranking them is the SERPs is key!

I don’t want to cover too much about SEO in this post, but I do want to give you a quick idea of how useful a back links checker can be for beating out your competition.  I do however cover all of that in another post, so please be on the look out for that.

2. Is Google™ Finding My Links: Although it can take some time for Google™ to actually find and index links back to your site, you should start seeing some pretty quick if the site is a reputable article directory such as Ezine.com.  You’re putting forth the time, money and effort to beat out the competition and you want to know if those links and “link juice” are getting back to you.

There are quite a back links checkers both paid and free to help you accomplish this, but I will give a quick over of 3 that I personally use:

Best Back Links Checkers

back links checker

Traffic Travis

This is tool has both a free and paid version and both work equally well.  I personally use the paid version, but only because I have so many sites that the free version couldn’t keep up any more.

I use Traffic Travis for both reverse engineering my competitors links and checking to see how many back links I have to both my main page and and deep links going to my posts. I can see:

  • How Many Links I Have
  • What The Page Rank of the Links Are
  • What Anchor Text Was Used to Link Back
  • Whether or Not the Link is “Follow” or “No-Follow”

Traffic Travis has a lot of great uses, just get in there and play with it!  Like I said, the free version is quite useful, you don’t have to shell out top dollar to get great use out of it.

SEO Quake Plug Inback links checker

This is a must have tool for any affiliate marketer and it’s FREE!  I use it with Google Chrome™ and Mozilla FireFox™, but I’m sure IE has it available as well.  This tool will show all kinds of interesting information, but for the sake of this conversation and saving time we’re using it as a back links checker only.

Oddly enough, Google™ doesn’t always display back links via this tool so you want to rely on Yahoo™ to see how many back links you have to both your main site and posts/pages.

This also works great when spying on the competition, you can check their links.  If they got a link let’s say from a forum or blog comment, you know you have a chance to get a link from there as well.  This is an extremely useful spy technique and can save you a hell of lot of time looking for related sites to get back links from.

BackLink Watch

This is another completely free back links checker and if you don’t have a lot of time or technical background, this can be the way to go. You don’t need to download anything just visit BackLinkWatch.com, type in the URL you want to check and you’re off.

They are heavy on the pop ups, just bare with it and be patient.  Just remember, they’re trying to make money just like you are.

Back Links Checker-You’re All Done!

I hope you got some use out of this post, I know these simple tools helped me a lot when I was starting out and are an important part of my daily back linking routine to this day! A Back links checker can be used in a variety of ways, but the best use is MAKING MONEY as I’m sure you would agree!
