What is a Rss FeedWhat is an RSS Feed?

So, what is an RSS feed anyway….  RSS stands for (Rich Site Summary), it was designed to deliver the changing web content to the end subscriber.  In normal terms, you want to know when ReverseFound.com adds or changes content you will be notified when subscribe to my RSS Feed.

So, Why the RSS Feed?

Simple bookmarking tools just aren’t enough if you want to keep track of your favorite site or blog.  You have to manually check your book marked sites and more often then not they are not regularly updated.  It’s time consuming and often unfruitful….

With an RSS Subscription you no longer have to do this…  Just think of it as a subscription to your favorite magazine or newspaper and you’re sent a copy directly to your computer without lifting a finger.

You’re Going To Need An RSS Feed Reader

There are quite a few RSS Feed Readers available and I have listed a few below:

  • Google Reader
  • Feed Locks
  • Omea Reader
  • RSS Bandit

They work something like email when a new RSS Feed is received… They all have a bit different set up, but when a blog or website is updated a pop up will come up alerting you of a change or new post.

RSS Feeds For Internet Marketers

RSS Feeds can be a great way for Internet Marketers in a couple of different ways:

  • RSS Feeds are a great way to get indexed in Google™ quicker and getting back links
  • They are a great way to get content to your readers quickly and effortlessly

Getting the RSS Feeds out are the next step and I’ve listed a couple of Free RSS Submitters below:

  • Ping-O-Matic.com
  • Bulk Ping.com
  • FeedAgg.com

There are some really good paid RSS Feed submitters as well and  can be a great tool for any internet marketer I personally use TrafficMania RSS Bot because it allows me to submit one large feed with multiple descriptions and keywords.

Creating An RSS Feed

Some Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo do not have an RSS Feed available for you to grab and send out, so you have to create one.  A great free tool for that is Feedage.com…  Simply take the URL of the page/post that you want to convert into an RSS Feed and plug into their program.

You want to check the validity of the RSS Feed before you send it out across the net.  You’ve done all the work, so you may as well check to see if the feed is valid.  There is a neat free tool at W3 Feed Validator, just plug in your newly formed RSS Feed and it will validate it in seconds.
